Gandhian activist and the Janlokpal

Going thru the violent agitations in Libra, Syria and other parts of the globe, when I come to India, A 74 years old Gandhian activist s requesting to fast and punishing themselves, and singing rhymes in front of the official residences of the parliamentarians. But there shouldn’t be any harm to the national property, any problem to the masses and law & order. Millions of people are on the road but without a single such incidence of violence or otherwise.

                        I wonder when agitating masses regulate traffic

                        Behaving with the police and the police reciprocate

The Lokpal, Aruna Roy’s and Janlokpal draft may be imperfect but the common man s awake now and on the roads for a common cause of building the nation.

The agitation may end in a day or two but I m seeing much more to come in future….. do you too??

While going thru some of the reports of past..

We are the largest democracy in the world, the emerging super power.

Wikileaks says “Black money in Swiss banks mainly from India” and claiming having the 1014 names with account numbers.

Economic Times says “According to a global survey by Transparency International (TI), India is the ninth most corrupt country in the world, in a ranking of 86 countries”.

The recent developments in and outside the Parliament house and some of the past..

• We have not punished the killers of hundreds of Sikhs in Delhi – 1984.
• We have not punished, who demolish the Babri Masjid.
• We have failed to punish the culprits of Bhopal Gas tragedy and facilitated them not the victims.
• We have not owned the responsibility of mass killings in Gujarat.
• We have failed to charge a single politician and other who cornered India’s wealth outside.
• We are still struggling to look into the 1993 Mumbai blast and others after that.
• Still the states are capturing the mother land from the farmers in the name of industrial development and selling to some of the lobbyist.
• The people are starving, food grains are rotting in granaries but our PM and the Agri Minister saying they don’t have the magic band.

Better life after 50...

Going thru the headlines of the newspaper today, I stuck at a British survey regarding the better life of women after their fifties, which has been endorsed by about the 92% of them.

The question neither meant to create a schism between men and women nor is it a question about how we look. It's about how we feel.

 Dr. Susan Nolen-H in the Psychology Today,  says the answer could be ‘yes’ as their lives get better with age. Rates of depression, anxiety, and suicide in women go down, as we grow older, and contributes that to the natural strengths women possess -- coping skills, empathy, ability to listen, patience -- which help us to tackle new problems and situations that arise as we age, and also give us the courage to pursue new paths.

Further women's full complement of strength gives them the mindset to celebrate older age as a time of joy, love, and fulfillment for all they have worked for and grown to be over their lifetimes.

According to one more study conducted recently says “it seems that women over 50 are often better equipped to handle life's increasingly complicated challenges, than men”

To face the adversities that come with aging, the men showed less inclination to use these important coping skills compared to the women. In other words, older women are more likely than older men to tap their mental, emotional and relational strengths to deal with adversity, which in turn left them less vulnerable to depression and anxiety in the phase of difficulty

Is it so?

BEING A MOTHER......

After 17 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She said, 'I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you.'

The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my MOTHER, who has been alone for 20 years, but the demands of my work and my two boys had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie.

* * *

'What's wrong, aren't you well,' she asked?

* * *

My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign
of bad news.

'I thought it would be pleasant to spend some time with you,' I responded. 'Just the two of us.'
She thought about it for a moment, and then said, 'I would like that very much..'

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her
house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last birthday on November 19th.

She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's. 'I told my friends that I was going to go
out with my son, and they were impressed,' she said, as she got into that new white van. 'They can't wait to hear about our date'.

We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy.. My mother took my
arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only
read large print. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips.. 'It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were
small,' she said. 'Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor,' I responded.

During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation- -nothing extraordinary but catching up
on recent events of each other's life. We talked so much that we missed the movie.

As we arrived at her house later, she said, 'I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me
invite you.' I agreed.

* * *

'How was your dinner date?' asked my wife when I got home. 'Very nice’. Much more so than I could have imagined,' I answered.

* * *

A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't
have a chance to do anything for her.

* * *

Sometime later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place
mother and I had dined. An attached note said: 'I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I
could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife.
You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you, son..'

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: 'I LOVE YOU' and to give our loved
ones the time that they deserve.. Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till 'some other time.'

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby..... somebody
doesn't know that once you're a mother, 'normal' is history

Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct .... Somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.
* * *

Somebody said being a mother is boring ....

somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver's permit. Somebody said if you're a 'good' mother, your child will 'turn out good'....

somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee.

Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother.... somebody never helped a fourth grader with his math.

* * *

Somebody said you can't love the second child as much as you love the first .... Somebody doesn't
have two children.

* * *

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery....
somebody never watched her 'baby' get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten ...
or on a plane headed for military 'boot camp.'

* * *

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married....somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home......
Some body never had grandchildren.

* * *
Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her....
somebody isn't a mother.

May our Mother Earth become a Heaven of Peace and Love .....Let us Pray!!

The blackspot angelfish and the sex change...

Angelfish are one of the most commonly kept freshwater aquarium fish, as well as prized for its unique shape, color and behavior. Angelfish pairs form long-term relationships where each individual will protect the other from threats and potential suitors. Upon the death or removal of one of the mated pair, breeders have experienced both the total refusal of the remaining mate to pair up with any other angelfish and successful breeding with subsequent mates.

The blackspot angelfish can change from a female to male but this happens for a specific reason....

The angelfish live in groups with a single male, which is blue in color and four female fish which are yellow in color. The male is stronger and largest member in the group protecting the others acting as a "security guard".

When the male dies, the group needs a "security guard". This is when the largest female fish in the group begins to change its appearance. She starts growing larger in size and changing its color to blue. Slowly her behavior changes and begins to behave like a male. Two weeks later, the black strips appear on her body. This indicates the completeness of the sex change.

Now she is completely a male~~~

Homeland or a motherland……..

This is about a little pretty girl, who born with a golden spoon, thousand miles away from her homeland, a country with the dominance of her people in the social and political arena.

Grown up in the environment of opportunities, growth and success, the little pretty girl is due to start her family now, the generation who has to again differentiate among their motherland or the homeland…..Passing the rich tradition and culture of her homeland to her kids --Why is she scared of a sudden mass fear and anxiety over anticipated events?

Why she loves the country, the people and its culture and customs, she never visited?

Why she is saddened with the woes and un-warranted disastrous to her people?

The homeland of her forefathers, where they dreamed about the future of their generations is standing opened up its arms to embrace the little pretty girl even once.Whether she’ll step there on the land coming to her dreams even once before her going…………..??

(A homeland is the concept of the place to which an ethnic group holds a long history and a deep cultural association with —the country in which a particular national identity began. And Motherland may refer to a mother country, i.e. the place of one's birth)

The killing of a missionary

It was Jan 22, 1999 when an Australian missionary Mr Graham Staines was burnt alive along with his two minor sons aged 6 and 10 years then, when they were sleeping in a van outside a church in an Indian village. After almost twelve years the Hon’ble Supreme Court in its verdict says

• In a country like ours where discrimination on the ground of caste or religion is taboo (A strong social prohibition relating to any area of human activity orsocial custom that is sacred and forbidden based on moral judgment and sometimes even religious beliefs) and taking lives of persons belonging to another caste or religion is bound to have a dangerous and reactive effect on society.
• Further the intention was to teach Mr Graham Staines a lesson for his religious activities.
• In a secular country the state can’t have its own religion but treat all religions and religious groups equally and respect fully.
• On the contrary there is no justification for interfering in some ones belief by force, provocation, conversion, incitement or upon a flawed premise that one religion is better than the other

But the Hon’ble Supreme Court further says that the crime was not rarest of the rare so no death sentence.

In the course of time, two more statements:

• Every person should be given another chance to rebuild his/her life………………There is need for the killers to repent (to feel sorry, self-reproachful, or contrite for past conduct; regret or be conscience-stricken about a past action and attitude) …..says Mrs Gladys Staines (Wife of Mrs Graham Staines)
• As far the Christian community is concerned, we have already forgiven him (Dara Singh, the killer)…….. We accept the SC verdict. … says Raphael Cheenath (Cuttack-Bhubaneshwar archbishop)
